Custom-printed reflective accessories can combine a useful purpose with promotion for a business, school or community. However, not every promotional band is personal protective equipment. Here is how to choose a product, check the implications of printing and adapt your order to the country where it will be used.

Start with the purpose: a promotional gift or protective equipment?
Consider who will use the item and in what environment. Buying a giveaway for an event is different from equipping someone who works around moving vehicles. For workwear, select protection according to the workplace risk assessment and the rules of the destination country. Do not assume that a promotional accessory replaces the required equipment.
| Intended use | What to choose | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Company campaigns and eventsBranded items for participants | A band or pendant suited to the audience and budget | Whether it is a promotional accessory or documented protective equipment. |
| Schools and communitiesVisibility awareness campaigns | An item suited to the user's size and intended activity | Instructions, age suitability and correct attachment. |
| Work around vehiclesTraffic and moving machinery | Equipment selected for the actual workplace risks | Applicable conformity documents, the relevant standard, class or type, and permitted branding. |
The standards also distinguish different risk situations. EN 17353 covers enhanced visibility equipment for medium-risk situations, while high-risk applications fall within the scope of EN ISO 20471. This is not a simple division between children's and adults' products; see the official EN 17353 overview.
Three options for custom-printed reflective items
Snap bands for promotional use
BASIC reflective snap bands offer pad or full-colour UV printing and different branding positions. The product is listed as not PPE, with a minimum order of 100 units. We therefore do not present it as a replacement for required workplace protective equipment.
A promotional option, not an automatic workplace safety solution.Pendants for bags and backpacks
Custom-printed reflective pendants allow you to use shapes and artwork that suit your campaign. Ask about the intended use and documented properties of the particular version. A category name does not establish that every item offers the same protection.
Choose the shape and attachment method around the user.Vests with documented specifications
The FLASH ISO vest page lists EN ISO 20471:2013 and a minimum order of 10 units. Before ordering for work, request the documentation for the specific version, confirm the required class and agree on the permitted branding. The product name alone is not enough.
Check workplace requirements and documentation before placing a logo.Pedestrian rules depend on the country
There is no single pedestrian rule that should be copied into every international campaign. Tell us where the items will be distributed and used, and check the applicable local requirements. Czech rules should not be presented as a general European or worldwide obligation.
For example, Rule 3 of the UK Highway Code advises pedestrians to use reflective materials when it is dark. This is guidance in that rule, not a claim that every pedestrian worldwide must wear a reflective band. Workplace requirements and rules for particular activities need separate consideration.
For school and community campaigns, include a short explanation of correct use. Giving someone an accessory does not ensure that they attach it correctly, keep it uncovered or check its condition.
Printing must not compromise functional areas
Placing a logo away from the silver strips is not sufficient on its own. Printing may also cover fluorescent background material and reduce the area available for the garment's required performance. Follow the manufacturer's permitted modifications and instructions; the effect of logos on minimum areas is explained in KÜBLER's technical guidance.
- For protective equipment: check which printing methods and coverage the documentation allows.
- For promotional accessories: choose the method according to the material, artwork and intended use.
- Before production: approve the logo's position and size, not just its colour.
- When distributing the products: provide the relevant instructions to the users.

Using and caring for reflective accessories
Do not hide a reflective item beneath a coat or behind a backpack. Demonstrate how to attach the specific product according to its instructions, and check its visibility in the positions in which it will actually be worn.
Follow the manufacturer's cleaning, washing and replacement instructions. Do not assume that a wash-cycle limit for one vest applies to every band or accessory. A logo remaining intact is not evidence that worn or damaged protective equipment still performs as intended.
What to include in your enquiry
Send the quantity, budget, required date and intended use: a promotional event, school campaign or specific workplace. Include the destination country. For protective equipment, specify the standard, class or type established by the workplace assessment; for vests, add the sizes. Send your logo and preferred branding position.
Allow approximately 3–4 weeks from order to delivery for standard jobs. Production typically takes 10–14 days, with artwork preparation, approval and transport adding to the overall schedule. We confirm availability and timing for the actual product, quantity and destination rather than promising an unverified express service.
Frequently asked questions
Is every reflective band personal protective equipment?
No. Its intended use and documented properties matter, not merely its reflective appearance. BASIC bands, for example, are listed in our catalogue as not PPE.
Does a CE mark alone establish suitability for work?
No. For equipment supplied for the EU market, check the relevant conformity documents and the required class or type. A CE mark alone does not identify the right product for a particular workplace, and other destination markets may have different requirements.
Can you promise visibility at a specific distance?
Not without appropriate evidence from testing the particular product under specified conditions. An illustration is not a measurement, and a material property cannot automatically be converted into the distance at which a driver will see a person.
Can reflective products be ordered from one unit?
Minimum quantities vary. TAEDA offers production from one unit on selected products, but that does not apply to the entire reflective range: BASIC lists 100 units and FLASH ISO 10 units.
Does printing underneath the surface guarantee protective performance?
No. The specific product and branding method must remain consistent with its documentation. The name of a printing method is not proof that the finished item complies with the relevant requirements.
Choose reflective products for their actual purpose
Send us the intended use, country of use, logo, quantity and required date. The first 30 minutes of graphic design work are free, and we check your artwork before production. With our own warehouse and production facilities, you can arrange the order directly with TAEDA.
